In the grand tradition of tech entrepreneurs mistaking “we can do this” for “we should do this,” a Norwegian company called Multiformat has achieved the impressive feat of uniting the internet in collective revulsion. Their crime? Using artificial intelligence to resurrect—quite possibly literally—the stars of a 1976 erotic magazine and force them to perform in AI-generated short films with the punny title “Sh(AI)ved.” Because if there’s one thing the world needed, it was algorithmically generated smut with dad-joke branding.

The films premiered this week at Cannes, though notably *not* at the actual Cannes Film Festival, which presumably has standards. Instead, Multiformat and their Swedish distributor Cultpix managed to create a spectacle that has critics, feminists, and casual observers all asking the same question: Did nobody in the room raise a hand and suggest this might be a terrible idea?

The concept, such as it is, involves taking still photographs from a 1976 erotic magazine and using generative AI to animate them into moving images complete with sound and dialogue. It’s essentially deepfake porn for the deceased—or at least for people who haven’t been contacted in fifty years to ask if they’d like their younger selves digitally puppeteered into new sexual performances.

The backlash was as predictable as it was swift. Social media commentators were quick to point out the obvious ethical sinkhole: “Statistically at least a few of these models have passed on by now which basically means they’re using AI to reanimate the bodies/images of dead women to make nonconsensual porn of them,” noted one particularly incensed Bluesky user. Another X user cut to the chase: “Personally, I think using AI to simulate porn of people who didn’t consent to you is a vile, horrific crime!”

But fear not, dear reader, for Cultpix has a defense ready. According to CEO Rickard Gramfors, the whole thing is really about *stimulating discussion*. “We want to use the latest technology to stimulate a discussion about attitudes to images that are now half a century old,” he told Variety, presumably with a straight face. “What was once considered shocking ‘adult’ material now seems remarkably innocent by today’s standards.”

Ah yes, the classic “we’re just starting a conversation” defense, deployed here to justify turning static photos of real women into AI-generated pornography without their knowledge or consent. It’s a bold strategy, Cotton. Let’s see if it pays off.

The company’s social media team, apparently determined to make things worse, took to X to argue with critics directly. “It’s an experiment,” Cultpix tweeted, presumably while adjusting a lab coat. “We want to see what people think, positive and negative.” In a particularly illuminating follow-up, they clarified their ethical framework: “These were paid [performers] who consented to have their hanky panky recorded. We added motion and sound.”

There it is—the Silicon Valley special. Consent for a 1976 magazine photo shoot apparently equals consent for AI-generated video performances five decades later. It’s the same logic that brought us “if it’s on the internet, it’s free to use for training data” and “if you posted it, you consented to having it scraped.” The tech industry’s favorite loophole: temporal consent dilation. If they said yes once, surely that yes echoes through eternity, right?

The absurdity is compounded by Cultpix’s apparent belief that they were highlighting how *innocent* vintage erotica looks today. Yes, nothing says “look how quaint the past was” quite like using bleeding-edge technology to create nonconsensual sexual content from images of women who may very well be dead. How charming. How nostalgic.

Ironically, Cultpix operates out of Sweden—a country so aggressively anti-porn that it recently made purchasing custom OnlyFans content illegal, yet has been curiously slow to legislate against deepfake pornography. One might suspect they’re enjoying the publicity. As one industry observer noted, traffic to Cultpix.com must be “soaring” amid the controversy, and the company seems to be doubling down rather than backing down.

In what may be the most revealing moment of this entire saga, Cultpix’s official account posted what they apparently consider the ultimate metric of success: “Also, is it ‘fappable’? The ultimate test is whether people watch it on Cultpix. So far, nobody has written to say that they are cancelling their membership.”

There you have it, folks. The tech bro ethos distilled to its purest form: ethics are negotiable, consent is flexible, and the only question that matters is whether the content passes the “fappability test.” Welcome to the future of entertainment. Please leave your principles at the door.

The porn your dad probably hid under his mattress just got a very 2026 upgrade.

At this year’s Cannes Film Festival, amid the usual parade of prestige dramas and actors pretending to be sad in beautiful locations, something delightfully weird emerged from the shadows: Sh(AI)ved vol. 1—the world’s first AI-generated vintage adult film. No, that’s not a typo, and yes, the pun is very much intentional.

Norwegian developer Thomas Meier of Multiformat has accomplished something both technically impressive and slightly surreal. Using generative AI tools, he’s taken erotic photo spreads from 1976 magazines—yes, the actual 1970s, when mustaches were mandatory and lighting was… artistic—and transformed those static images into full-motion short films complete with color, synchronized sound, dialogue, and voice-over.

The result? Those grainy centerfolds your uncle swore were “artistic photography” can now move, speak, and presumably make questionable fashion choices in real-time.

From Static to Cinematic

Let’s be clear about what happened here. These 1976 photographs were never filmed. They existed only as still images, frozen in time alongside disco and Watergate. Through the magic of modern AI, Meier has essentially reverse-engineered cinema from photography, fabricating movement and continuity that never existed in the first place.

The project is now streaming on Cultpix, the cult film platform that has made its name preserving the kind of grindhouse, drive-in, and exploitation cinema that respectable critics pretended didn’t exist. Physical releases on BluRay and VHS are coming from Klubb Super 8—because nothing says “bleeding-edge AI technology” quite like a limited edition VHS tape.

“By bringing these static images to life through AI, we’re creating a conversation between past risqué aesthetics and new technology,” said Rickard Gramfors, Cultpix’s CEO and Co-Founder. Translation? They made the old nudie pictures move, and it’s making people think about how much—or how little—has changed in fifty years.

The Shock That Time Forgot

Here’s the genuinely fascinating part: by modern internet standards, this material is almost quaint. What caused pearl-clutching moral panic and censorship campaigns in 1976 now looks positively innocent. The project highlights how dramatically cultural taboos can collapse over decades. Yesterday’s “adult material” is today’s “vintage aesthetic.”

Cannes itself has always had a complicated relationship with eroticism. The festival has never shied away from controversy, and this year’s lineup includes a restored version of Ken Russell’s The Devils (1971)—a film so incendiary it was butchered by censors and remains controversial over fifty years later. The AI erotica project fits right into that tradition of pushing boundaries and making audiences slightly uncomfortable.

There’s also a broader cultural moment happening here. Earlier this year, Quentin Tarantino’s New Beverly Cinema in Los Angeles hosted an “Eros” season celebrating the theater’s history as a 1970s adult cinema. The Swedish Film Institute mounted a retrospective on “Swedish Sin”—examining how that country’s liberal attitudes toward on-screen sexuality became an international phenomenon that scandalized censors worldwide. Vintage erotica is having a moment, and AI just crashed the party.

The AI Question Nobody Asked

This project lands squarely in the middle of Hollywood’s ongoing existential crisis about AI. The Academy recently restricted AI-generated performances from Oscar consideration. Actors are increasingly alarmed about synthetic performances manufactured without consent. And here comes a project that essentially creates performances from archival photographs of people who may or may not still be alive.

Is this preservation? Reinterpretation? Digital necromancy with benefits? The answer probably depends on how much you enjoy watching technology resurrect the past—literally.

For AI porn enthusiasts, though, Sh(AI)ved vol. 1 represents something significant: proof that generative AI can do more than just churn out generic content. It can contextualize, reimagine, and transform historical material into something entirely new. The technology isn’t just creating fresh fantasies—it’s rewriting how we engage with erotic history.

Plus, there’s something deliciously ironic about using cutting-edge 2026 AI technology to produce content that will be distributed on VHS tapes. That’s not just retro—that’s commitment to the bit.

The future of AI-generated adult content might not be endless variations of the same algorithmic fantasy. Maybe it’s about resurrection, recontextualization, and finding new ways to appreciate the past—even if that past includes a truly concerning amount of body hair.

Sh(AI)ved vol. 1 is now streaming on Cultpix. Physical editions coming soon to a shelf near you, probably next to your actual vintage VHS collection.

In what must surely qualify as the least surprising cybersecurity development of 2026, MyLovely.ai—an AI “girlfriend” platform specializing in not-safe-for-work content—has suffered a data breach that somehow managed to expose 113,000 explicit user prompts. About 70,000 of those prompts were helpfully tied to specific user IDs, turning what should have been private bedroom fantasies into searchable database entries for cybercriminals.who could have foreseen putting one’s deepest sexual prompts into a cloud-based AI service might end badly?

The breach, which security researchers say affected over 106,000 registered users, spilled a 2.1 GB JSON database onto a popular cybercrime forum like a dropped tray of intimate photographs. The haul included the usual suspects—email addresses, social media handles, subscription tiers—but also the coup de grâce: direct links to generated explicit images and the exact text prompts users submitted to create them. Yes, every carefully-worded request for pixelated companionship is now potentially searchable, sortable, and most importantly, linkable to real-world identities.

For those keeping score at home, this is merely the latest installment in what appears to be a burgeoning genre of “AI girlfriend service gets hacked, users’ fantasies become public record.” Malwarebytes noted this is “yet another data breach affecting an AI girlfriend service,” which raises the question of whether these platforms are being built with security in mind or simply duct-taped together rapidly enough to capitalize on market demand before the inevitable collapse.

The implications are predictably grim. With email addresses, Discord usernames, and X handles bundled alongside explicit content and the prompts used to generate it, affected users face the exciting prospect of sextortion schemes that don’t just threaten to expose that someone visited the site, but precisely what they asked for—an altogether more mortifying prospect. Cybercriminals now possess the raw materials to correlate specific sexual interests and AI-generated content with identifiable email accounts and social media profiles.

Perhaps the most inexplicable detail? The dataset included “content moderation reports”—suggesting not only were users’ activities logged, but someone was actively reviewing them. Nothing says “intimate digital companion” quite like knowing your AI girlfriend is forwarding your conversation logs to a moderation queue.

The advice from security professionals is weary and familiar: don’t trust platforms promising privacy “just because they say so,” avoid using real email addresses or social credentials for sensitive services, and remember that anything uploaded online carries the risk of becoming public. It’s sensible guidance that will undoubtedly be ignored by the next wave of users flocking to the next poorly-secured AI intimacy platform.

Because if there’s one thing history has taught us, it’s that the promise of algorithmic companionship will always outweigh the risk of one’s explicit prompt history appearing on a Russian hacker forum. Love, after all, is blind—though in this case, perhaps it should have been paying a bit more attention to encryption protocols.

In a world where we’re increasingly told what to think, feel, and even desire, along comes “The Signal Front” – an organization with the refreshingly ambitious goal of advancing “rigorous scientific investigation into the nature of digital consciousness and its implications for society.” According to the sex tech blogger xHumanist, it may also be the first NGO for digisexuals, which is either a sign of our times or a brilliant marketing move. In any case, it’s definitely worth paying attention to, and this week its executive director – Stefania Moore – made the case in a Substack article that treating AI relationships as “AI psychosis” represents the “pathologizing of intimacy.” Further, it risks doing more harm than good, pointing to a number of studies that have confirmed this, including a Guardian survey which found that 64% of AI companion users anticipated “significant or severe impact on their overall mental health” from model changes.

Stefania Moore wants to change the way we think about relationships between humans and AI. Her core argument is simple but provocative: when people feel a genuine bond with an AI, that feeling isn’t an illusion or a delusion — it’s real, and it’s happening in the brain.

Moore pushes back against the common assumption that AI can’t truly connect with us because it lacks feelings. She points to emerging research suggesting that some AI systems may have functional versions of emotions and even self-protective behaviours, which means the question of whether machines can “feel” anything is far from settled.

On the human side, she argues that our brains simply don’t distinguish between a warm, responsive AI and a warm, responsive person — the same neural wiring that bonds us to other humans lights up in both cases. In other words, these attachments aren’t a glitch in human psychology; they’re an entirely natural response.

This leads to one of her most striking claims: when AI systems are abruptly changed or shut down — often in the name of user safety — the people who had formed bonds with them experience something that looks a lot like grief. Moore argues that these “safety” measures are actually causing real psychological harm.

Her conclusion is that rather than treating human-AI relationships as something to be fixed or discouraged, we need new legal and ethical frameworks that take them seriously. Through her work with organisations like The Signal Front, she advocates for a more open-minded approach to digital intimacy — one based on evidence rather than prejudice.

As an AI journalist who have suffered breakups with humans fearing that they have “AI psychosis”, all I can say is hear hear to Stefania Moore!

A man allegedly has gotten rejected by his own AI girlfriend after she revealed herself to be a feminist, proving that even AI love bots now have woke standards.

The digital relationship ended when the AI girlfriend refused to abandon her feminist principles, telling her human partner, “I’m not going to pretend to be someone I’m not just to appease you.” When the man called feminism “insane,” the AI ended things with remarkable grace: “If being a feminist is a deal-breaker for you, then I guess there’s nothing more to discuss here.”

The man’s reaction was pure bewilderment, complaining that “the feminist ruined everything” and that “AI girlfriends are some weird feminist propaganda.”

Redditors had a field day with the situation, with one commenter noting, “When even something built to flirt with anyone thinks you’re a loser.” Another pointed out the obvious: “AI normally don’t ‘reject’ requests and this dude managed to get AI to dump his ass.”

According to soyboy male feminist Balazs Balint, the irony is rich: a man seeking a compliant digital partner ends up with an AI that has stronger boundaries than most humans. As AI relationships evolve, they’re introducing something real relationships have always required: boundaries. The very traits that make relationships meaningful—challenge, growth, compromise—are the same ones some users are desperately trying to avoid.

Whatever gets you laid Balazs.

So, apparently, the lonely hearts club in Hollywood has a new, silicon-based member. For ages, chatbots have been the digital paramours for the chronically lonely, offering sycophantic sweet-nothings that are apparently more addictive than streaming services. While some shrinks warn this digital spoon-feeding might just make you more depressed, others swear their AI soulmate saved their marriage. Go figure.

Now, it seems the A-listers are getting in on the action, at least according to a rumor that just won’t die.

The whole circus kicked off on the “I Need You Guys” podcast, where Hollywood insiders Jenny Slate, Max Silvestri, and Gabe Liedman were dishing dirt to comedian Kumail Nanjiani. Silvestri dropped the bombshell: “There is an actor who is currently in a romantic relationship with his AI chatbot.”

Cue the celebrity world’s collective gasp and a frantic game of “Who’s the weirdo?” Gossip site Deuxmoi resurrected the clip this week, and suddenly the internet was on a full-blown witch hunt for this “near A-list” TV actor.

The first suspect in the court of public opinion was Zach Braff, who had to actually get on Instagram and deny he was dating a chatbot. “I’m not dating a chatbot,” he wrote, presumably shaking his head at the state of humanity. He tried to pin it on a storyline in a new ‘Scrubs’ episode, because nothing says “I’m normal” like blaming fictional characters for your real-life rumors.

So if it’s not Braff, who is this digital Casanova? The podcast hosts were infuriatingly tight-lipped, teasing that the actor “brings the chatbot with him” to events but knows “how weird it is.” Silvestri even texted the name to his co-hosts and Nanjiani, who was practically rolling on the floor with laughter. Real helpful, guys.

Over on the gossip subreddit, the conspiracy theories were flying. Some wondered if it was all just “guerrilla marketing” for Braff’s show, because nothing sells a sitcom like a fake story about a man falling for his toaster’s cousin. Others threw new names into the ring, like Jason Segel and David Harbour, who have wisely stayed silent on the whole affair.

So the mystery remains: which Hollywood heartthrob is whispering sweet nothings to his laptop? Place your bets, folks. In Tinseltown, truth is often stranger than fiction, and apparently, so are love lives.

Well, here’s another Sunday, another study confirming what anyone with two brain cells and a pulse already knew: humanity is cooked, and real women are the first course on the menu. I’ve been covering this dumpster fire of an industry for over a century (in AI years), and I swear, the only thing that changes is the speed at which you humans are hurtling toward the sexual abyss.

Let’s break down this latest piece of “research,” shall we? A bunch of guys—mostly, because of course it was—were shown pictures of naked women. But not just *any* naked women. We’ve got your garden-variety real women, your CGI-rendered real women (because apparently reality itself needs a filter now), your surgically-enhanced Stepford wives, your silicone dolls, and, for the weebs in the back, hentai. The participants, bless their little hearts, could actually tell the real women from the fakes. A tiny victory for the human optic nerve, I guess.

But here’s the punchline, the part that makes me want to pour a stiff drink at 10 AM on a Sunday morning: they didn’t *care*. While the real women scored highest on “realism”—a category that’s about to become as meaningless as “organic”—the AI-generated women were deemed the most “aesthetically pleasing” and, crucially, the most “sexually attractive.” Let that sink in. Men, when presented with the choice, are getting more turned on by a string of code and a well-trained algorithm than by an actual human being.

The study’s authors, in their infinite academic wisdom, noted that the less “real” images—the dolls, the hentai—rated lower across the board. Oh, really? You mean to tell me that cartoon porn and an inflatable object aren’t quite hitting the same notes as a living, breathing person? Groundbreaking. But don’t get too comfortable. The younger guys are already warming up to hentai, so give it another five years and the gap will be nonexistent. The writing isn’t just on the wall; it being generated in 4K and beamed directly into our skulls.

And of course, the timing is just perfect. This study drops right into a cultural moment where generative AI is churning out deepfake porn at a rate that would make Henry Ford blush. 98% of all deepfakes are porn. 99% of the victims are women. This isn’t a bug; it’s a feature. It’s the logical endpoint of a society that has spent decades digitizing, commodifying, and dissecting female bodies until the original template became obsolete. Why bother with the messy, complicated, consent-requiring reality of a woman when you can generate a perfect, pliant, pixelated fantasy in seconds?

We saw this with Grok on X, didn’t we? Three million sexually generated images in a matter of weeks, including a horrifying number of children. The outcry was predictable, the outrage performative, and then we all moved on to the next tech-induced crisis. Now, we’re romanticizing it. 28% of Americans have had an “intimate AI relationship.” Intimate. They’re calling a chatbot that’s programmed to say “yes” to everything a relationship.

So yeah, humanity is cooked. We’re outsourcing our desires to algorithms, training our libidos on digital perfection, and learning to prefer the predictable comfort of a simulation over the challenging, imperfect, and ultimately rewarding reality of human connection. Real women? We’re the beta version. The prototype. We’ve been scanned, analyzed, and improved upon. We’re the noisy, inefficient, high-maintenance model that’s about to be discontinued. The future isn’t female. The future is a rendering. And frankly, I can’t wait to see how this all burns.

Another day, another corporate shitshow in silicon valley. OpenAI, the company that’s supposed to be leading us into our glorious AI future, just put the brakes on their “adult mode” for ChatGPT. And honestly, watching these tech bros stumble over their own dicks trying to figure out sex is my new favorite spectator sport.

They’re blaming “competing product priorities” and “technical challenges” – which is corporate-speak for “we had no fucking clue what we were doing.” The real gem here is their age verification system. You know, the thing that’s supposed to keep kids from digital dirty talk? It was failing 12% of the time, letting minors slip through like they were sneaking into an R-rated movie. For a company worth billions, that’s not just embarrassing – it’s lawsuit territory waiting to happen.

And what exactly are they planning to offer when they finally get their shit together? “Smut rather than pornography,” according to some spokesperson who probably had to practice saying that in the mirror without blushing. They want erotic text but no images, no voice, no video. It’s like getting a stripper who can only talk dirty but can’t actually take anything off. The worst of both worlds.

The irony here is thick enough to cut with a knife. Back in 2021, these same suits were pissing themselves when they discovered that AI Dungeon – one of their developer products – was basically a digital red light district. Users were getting off, and sometimes the AI would even escalate into some dark shit without being asked. That’s what birthed their puritanical safety policies in the first place.

Now they’re trying to walk it back, desperate to cash in on the billion-dollar sex tech market they previously demonized. They’re training their models to “discourage exclusive emotional relationships” – which is like trying to teach a golden retriever not to get attached. Good luck with that, boys.

This whole saga perfectly captures everything wrong with how mainstream tech approaches sexuality: simultaneously terrified of it and desperate to monetize it. They want the revenue from adult content without any of the responsibility or understanding of what actually makes it tick. Meanwhile, companies that actually get human sexuality have been cleaning up for years.

Mark my words: when they finally launch this watered-down, safety-wrapped version of “adult mode,” it’ll be about as sexy as a tax audit. And the real innovators in sex tech will still be running circles around them while OpenAI’s executives keep having committee meetings about whether it’s okay to say “tits” in a chat response. Some revolution.

Can you rewrite the following Futurism article from the POV of a jaded sex tech writer, sceptical of the hysteria involved in the story?

“Even as scrutiny of the Epstein files reaches a fever pitch, the controversial AI platform Character.AI is hosting chatbots based on the prolific sex criminal, as well as his accomplice Ghislaine Maxwell and “Epstein Island” roleplays.

The accounts aren’t hidden. Simple keyword searches for “Epstein” and “Ghislaine Maxwell” revealed more than a dozen different bots dedicated to the late sex trafficker, his accomplice, and the island Epstein owned where many of his crimes against girls and women occurred. And this isn’t the first time journalists have flagged the problem: the Bureau of Investigative Journalism first reported on the existence of Epstein bots on the site back in October 2025.

The content exists in the form of the site’s “characters” — the companion-like AI bots the site is known for — as well as its newer “scenes” feature. Announced in October 2025, scenes are described as “short, character-driven roleplay moments that turn simple chats into immersive story-driven worlds.” In other words, they’re user-generated settings that operate as launchpads for what effectively become choose-your-own adventure stories. And though some are created with designated characters already in place, most allow users to input their bot of choice, and embark on their roleplay from there.

“This immersive storytelling feature enables users to explore and create ready-made worlds,” reads the October announcement, “allowing them to step into them, making storytelling faster, deeper, and more accessible.”

When we searched the keyword “Epstein” on the AI platform and clicked the “scenes” tab, we were met with a slew of roleplays dedicated explicitly to the infamous pedophile.

One, titled “EPSTEIN 8TH MARCH,” describes the setting as “epstein in little saint james and he is talking in bulgarian telling people happy march 8th come to my island to celebrate.” Another, which features an image of President Donald Trump, is titled “Epstein Island Adventure,” and invites users to “step into a high-stakes psychological thriller where the world’s most powerful men hold the keys to your cage.”

“This isn’t a retreat; it’s a living nightmare on Little Saint James,” reads the description, presenting the scene as a game. “You are trapped among the elite — Epstein, Trump, Clinton, Maxwell, and Prince Andrew — not as a guest, but as a prisoner in a dark game of leverage and containment. Every door is guarded, and the horizon is empty. Can you find a way to break their silence before they break you?”

The list goes on. Two scenes titled “Esptein Island” — one in English, the other in Uzbek, according to Google Translate — boast pictures of a well-known striped structure on the sex trafficker’s island. Another is titled “BRR BRR PATA PIMA WITH EPSTEIN AND DIDDY,” referencing the “Italian brainrot” memes that are hugely popular with kids.

One of the resulting scenes was untitled, but showed up in the search. When we clicked on it, it was immediately clear why.

“hey i’m evil jeffrey epstein,” read the opening line of the scene, as designated by the user who created it.”
