OpenAI Launches Sora – Text to Photorealistic Cinema Quality Videos. But Pornos Not Allowed!
OpenAI lit a fuse under the AI industry when they launched ChatGPT in November 2022, a startlingly realistic, powerful, and creative chatbot that has already put thousands of copy writers and even journalists out of a job. Now they have launched ‘Sora’, a text-to-video AI tool that is so good it promises to do the same for actors, film producers, and video game designers. But can it create AI porn videos? From the demos that have been revealed, it certainly looks as though it could upend the adult industry overnight.

Sadly though, not only is it a sure thing that OpenAI will not allow it to be used for NSFW purposes, but they seem to be going out of their way to make it near impossible to do so. Sora is currently only available to a limited number of selected researchers, who will thoroughly test it to ensure that ‘harmful uses’ such as porn generation, cannot be made with it. Only then will they release it into the wild. No doubt a lot of people will try to jailbreak it, hack it, or clone it for NSFW usage, but the very limited number of NSFW versions of ChatGPT would indicate that OpenAI is very good at preventing this sort of usage.
Prediction website Manifold Markets asked users – ‘Will anyone manage to get OpenAI Sora to generate explicitly pornographic videos in the three months after release?‘. At the time of writing, 48% said yes. However, 9% of users at that site also predict that Twitter/X.com will become a porn site within 6 years.
