Taylor Swift Deepfaked Nudes Provoke Huge Backlash And Demands For Tougher Deepfake Porn Laws
Despite deepfaked porn images being around for years, with just about every celebrity, from the z-list upwards having hundreds of AI-generated hardcore images of themselves online on sites such as ‘MR Deepfakes’, it’s taken a few pictures of American singer Taylor Swift to create a tsunami of outrage that is likely to lead to legislation very soon in the USA and elsewhere. The media has been awash in the last few days with headlines screaming for harsh measures against sites that host such material. It appears these particular images were generated using a Microsoft tool and shared in a Telegram group, before being uploaded to X/Twitter, as well as a notorious celeb porn site (‘Celeb Jihad’). The images went viral on Twitter and were allegedly seen millions of times before being deleted by moderators.
Whilst pressure for a federal deepfake porn law has been building, it seems that this has been the case that has truly been the straw that broke the camel’s back. A little curious as we have seen some shocking stories of underage teens in both Spain and the USA having AI-generated nudes of themselves shared by classmates, and yet it is a few fake porn pictures of Taylor Swift on Twitter that has generated this crescendo of noise, with even calls for Microsoft, Stable Diffusion, and Google and Apple (for hosting AI-image generation apps) to be held legally responsible.
Whilst not denying in any way that deepfake porn can have real victims, for example when it leads to bullying or even blackmail, I wonder if Taylor Swift is aware that there are probably tens of thousands of men masturbating to a mental image of her right now (or at any given point since she became famous), many of them engaging in very obscene personal fantasies with her?

The deepfake porn problem and calls for ever harsher measures against it, look set to explode after the release of a new method that allows the generation of deepfake porn galleries, using any possible prompts, from just a single photo of an individual. The video below gives a hint at its frightening power.
